European Robin Taxidermie-Ganzkörpermontage - Erithacus rubecula - 12 cm - 13 cm - 9 cm

European Robin – Erithacus rubecula – Late 1970s / Early 1980s In excellent condition – No reserve Imagine this small jewel perched in your interior: the warm orange breast of the European robin catching the light like a tiny ember, its curious, upright posture adding a poetic stillness to a bookshelf, cabinet or winter-inspired vignette. This nostalgic piece captures the timeless character of one of Europe’s most beloved garden birds — a charming high-end quality accent for both classic and modern spaces. This specimen dates from the late 1970s to early 1980s and was legally and professionally mounted in the Netherlands in accordance with the 1936 Bird Act by the renowned high-end taxidermist R. Knol in Sint Maartensdijk. On the leg you can see a typical metal bird-ring from the 1970s–1980s. Such rings were issued by ornithological organisations or breeders for identification and research. They contain coded information such as the issuing organisation’s abbreviation, the breeder’s or ringer’s unique number, the year code and a sequential identification number. Dimensions Approx. 12 x 13 x 9 cm (h x w x d) Condition In beautiful vintage condition with natural ageing fully consistent with a late-1970s/early-1980s specimen. Please see the photos for a precise impression. Historical context The European robin, Erithacus rubecula, has been a symbolic bird in European folklore for centuries — often associated with winter, protection and domestic gardens. In Victorian and later 20th-century natural history collections, the robin became one of the most frequently preserved small birds due to its iconic colouring and familiar presence.
