Byōbu-Faltschirm - Ein sechsteiliges Byōbu (屏風) mit Chrysanthemen auf einem Hintergrund aus Gold- und Silberblatt. - Japan - Meiji-Zeit (spätes 19. Jahrhundert)
A Japanese six-panel paper byōbu (屏風) depicting a garden of white and yellow chrysanthemums in relief, painted in gofun, with touches of red, arranged along an elegant fence against a background of gold and silver leaf.
A symbol of longevity and perfection, the chrysanthemum (菊 kiku) is one of the most cherished flowers in Japanese tradition, representing purity and noble spirit.
The panels are framed by two elegant silk borders, while a lacquered wooden frame completes and protects the screen.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.
---The byobu is in good condition, with minor wear of the paper consistent with age. There are some restored areas, one clearly visible on the lower corner of the sixth panels. The red lacquer frame has been worn, the paper hinges have been restored, and there are cuts and holes on the back. Please refer to the photos for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
