Kreidezeit-Sägehai - Fossiler Zahn - Onchopristis numidus - 7.4 cm - 2.6 cm (Ohne Mindestpreis)
An exceptional rostral spine from the Cretaceous sawfish Onchopristis numidus, discovered in the famous Kem Kem Beds of southeastern Morocco and dating to approximately 100 million years ago.
This fossil represents one of the distinctive lateral spines that lined the elongated snout, or “saw,” of Onchopristis. These spines were used for defence and for stunning prey, making them among the most recognisable vertebrate elements from the Kem Kem fauna. The specimen shows well-preserved surface texture, natural colour variation and the characteristic tapering profile typical of this species.
Onchopristis was a large predatory fish inhabiting the ancient river systems of North Africa, and its remains are highly prized for their scientific interest and striking appearance. This piece provides an authentic look into the anatomy of one of the most iconic Cretaceous fish species.
A genuine and impressive addition to any fossil collection, ideal for collectors, educators, or enthusiasts of prehistoric marine life.
