Japanische antike Bronze-Pagodenlaterne - Bronze - Japan - 20. Jahrhundert

This hand made Antique Japanese-style bronze pagoda lantern, is inspired by traditional tōrō (灯籠), which are decorative lanterns often found in temples, gardens, and shrines throughout Japan. • Material: Hand cast bronze. • Shape: The pagoda-style roof (curved eaves) is a hallmark of Japanese architectural influence. • Hexagonal base: This shape is common in traditional lantern designs. • Cage-like body: May have been used to hold a candle or oil lamp—the bars would protect the flame and allow light to shine through. • Top loop handle: traditionally hung from the eaves of a traditional Japanese home, although can also be placed on the ground. Japanese lanterns like this originated in Buddhist temples to light pathways. Over time, they became popular in Shinto shrines and later in residential gardens during the Edo period. There are several types of traditional tōrō: • Kasuga-dōrō: Known for their stone construction and use in shrines. • Andon or Bonbori: More common in homes, often made with paper or glass sides. • Karakane tōrō (唐金灯籠): Bronze or Brass • Age: 20th-century decorative piece, mid-century or later. This original piece is hand made and has signs of hand-finishing, patina, and weight of over 10 pounds (4.72 KG). • Could be used as a candle holder, garden decor, or simply as a decorative interior piece. • Consider placing it on a small platform or in a zen corner for aesthetic harmony. This lantern was always kept indoors and never used. See pics for dimensions in Inches.
