Emaille-Werbeschild [Choryo] Vintage japanisch - Werbeschild - Emaille

"Choryo" Showa-era Enamel Sign Choryo is a brand of sake formerly produced by Takahashi Sake Brewery in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. "Choryo" evokes the image of Nagaoka's topography—"long, rolling hills"—and is a charming name that symbolizes the snowy land of Echigo. Famous Showa-era sake often incorporates pride in their local area into their names, and "Choryo" is a truly local sake brand beloved by the people of Nagaoka. This sign features a bold crimson "Choryo" design on a white enamel background. It was designed to shine in the snowy light of a Showa-era sake shop. The white symbolizes the purity of the sake and the cleanliness of the brewery, while the bold red calligraphy evokes a rich, well-balanced, delicious sake. Typical of enamel signs from the mid-Showa period, it has a beautiful, highly visible composition that is memorable even when viewed from afar. Nagaoka's snowy winters provide the perfect environment for sake brewing. The slow fermentation process results in a light yet crisp flavor. This "Choryo" sign was hung during the heyday of Echigo sake culture. It is believed to have been distributed to local liquor stores around the 1950s and 1960s to promote local brands. Due to the small-scale production of local sake, only a small number were distributed, making this a rare enamel sign with very few remaining. [Size] Approximately 91x17.5cm [Condition] Good vintage condition. Although it shows signs of use, the letters and designs remain clearly visible. Please check the photos. Any taxes related to international shipping must be borne by the purchaser. Occasionally, customs or the delivery company in your country may contact you for customs clearance via phone or email. Kindly ensure you are available to respond. Failure to do so may result in the parcel being returned to me, incurring additional shipping fees for reshipment. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
