This design embraces simplicity, allowing the bold lunar curve to stand out as a powerful emblem. The crescent moon was one of the most iconic motifs in samurai armour, most famously associated with the warlord Date Masamune. It symbolised ambition, steady growth, and the promise of future prosperity, as the waxing moon was seen as moving toward fullness. It also carried protective meaning, drawing on Buddhist associations with celestial guardianship. Its clear outline and dramatic silhouette conveyed individuality and resolve, making it a favourite among Edo period warriors who sought to project both martial spirit and refined taste. There are minor blemishes consistent with age, but overall the piece remains in good antique condition. Please refer to the photos for further details. Dimensions: approx.
