Colosseum - Valentyne Suite - SIGNED BY JON HISEMAN, DICK HECKSTALL-SMITH, DAVE CLEMPSON, DAVE GREENSLADE and - Vinylschallplatte - 1976

One of the most important progressive rock albums of all time. Signed on front cover by five members of the band: Jon Hiseman (1944–2018), (Dick Heckstall-Smith: 1934–2004), Dave Clempson, Dave Greenslade and Mark Clarke. From a collection of a German collector who attented concerts and collected autographs himself for 50+ years. He also included notes on paper about signatures. Colosseum were a pioneering British jazz-rock/progressive rock band formed in 1968 by drummer Jon Hiseman. Their 1969 album Valentyne Suite is often regarded as one of the cornerstone records of progressive rock, notable for its ambitious three-part title suite blending rock, jazz, and classical influences into an extended, cohesive composition. It was also the first release on the legendary Vertigo label, further cementing its historic status. The album’s fusion of improvisation, complex structures, and power helped shape the direction of progressive rock in the early 1970s. Jon Hiseman (1944–2018): A virtuosic drummer and the band’s leader, Hiseman was known for his technical precision and power. Beyond Colosseum, he played with Graham Bond, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, and later led the jazz-rock outfit Colosseum II with Gary Moore. Dick Heckstall-Smith (1934–2004): A saxophonist whose fiery style brought jazz intensity to Colosseum’s sound, he had previously worked with Alexis Korner, Graham Bond Organisation, and John Mayall. After Colosseum, he continued as a respected solo artist in the British jazz and blues scene. Dave Clempson (1949–present): Guitarist known for his bluesy, hard-edged playing, Clempson replaced James Litherland in Colosseum. He later joined Humble Pie, played with Uriah Heep, and became a sought-after session guitarist. Dave Greenslade (1943–present): Keyboardist whose classical training and organ/synth work were central to Colosseum’s prog sound. After Colosseum, he founded his own band, Greenslade, known for keyboard-driven progressive rock, and also worked as a TV composer. Mark Clarke (1950–present): Bassist and vocalist who joined Colosseum later in their classic lineup. Outside the band, he played with Uriah Heep, Tempest, and worked alongside artists such as Billy Squier and Rainbow’s Ritchie Blackmore. LP release date: this album was originally released in 1969, this exact pressing is from 1976. LP condition: plays EX, plays great! Visually some surfacemarks (VG+). Cover condition: as on photos, well preserved! Shipping is registered and with tracking number.
