V.S.O.P. - SIGNED BY WAYNE SHORTER (1933-2023) AND TONY WILLIAMS (1945-1997) - Five Stars - Vinylschallplatte - Erstpressung - 1979

Signed on front cover by Wayne Shorter (1933-2023) and Tony Williams (1945-1997), one of the all time greatest jazz musicians. From a collection of a person who worked for jazz festivals in Europe (mostly Sweden). Wayne Shorter was an American tenor and soprano saxophonist, composer, and bandleader, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in jazz history. He first rose to prominence in the late 1950s with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, where his innovative compositions and lyrical, complex improvisations began to attract attention. In the 1960s, Shorter joined the Miles Davis Second Great Quintet, contributing landmark compositions like Footprints, E.S.P., and Nefertiti, which helped redefine modern jazz with their harmonic sophistication and rhythmic freedom. He co-founded Weather Report in the 1970s, becoming a key pioneer of jazz fusion, blending jazz improvisation with funk, rock, and world music influences. His extensive work for Blue Note Records, including albums such as Speak No Evil, Night Dreamer, and JuJu, is considered essential listening, demonstrating his visionary approach to melody, harmony, and group interplay. Shorter’s music combines emotional depth, technical mastery, and forward-thinking innovation, securing his place as one of jazz’s all-time greats. Tony Williams was an American jazz drummer whose technical brilliance and creative vision transformed the role of the drum set in modern jazz. Joining Miles Davis’ Second Great Quintet at just 17, Williams brought a new sense of freedom, polyrhythm, and interaction to the rhythm section, profoundly influencing both contemporaries and generations of drummers. He later formed The Tony Williams Lifetime, one of the first jazz fusion groups, fusing rock, funk, and free jazz in a bold, virtuosic style. Williams also recorded seminal albums for Blue Note, including Life Time, Spring, and Emergency!, showcasing his skill as both a performer and composer, and pushing the boundaries of what jazz drumming could achieve. His work is celebrated for its power, precision, and innovation, making him one of the most important and influential drummers in jazz history. LP condition: EX Cover condition: as on photos, well preserved! Shipping is registered and with tracking number.
