A six-panel paper folding screen decorated with pigments, gold leaf and gold dust, depicting a scene set within a complex of palaces with vermilion roofs and open pavilions. The work shows groups of aristocrats engaged in formal moments and courtly life. The composition combines architectural and natural elements, with ancient pines, ornamental rocks, and flowering trees. The gold clouds articulate the reading of the screen and create transitions between the settings, while the details of the garments and furnishings are rendered with care. The panels are framed by two elegant silk borders, while a lacquered wooden frame completes and protects the screen. The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
