Raigo-zu (come-to-greet) is a Buddhist painting that depicts Amida Nyorai, accompanied by Bodhisattvas such as Kannon and Seishi, arriving at the moment of death to welcome the deceased to the Pure Land. It became popular from the mid-Heian period onwards based on Pure Land Buddhism, and visualizes wishes for those to be reborn in the Pure Land and faith in the Western Pure Land.
