Théophile François Somme (1871–1952) – Sculpture “Hunter and Eagle” – signed (signature partly illegible) A dynamic and expressive sculpture depicting a hunter defending himself from an attacking eagle. The work shows a high level of detail and movement, characteristic of Théophile François Somme. The signature on the stone base is partly worn and difficult to read, but the comparison with known examples allowed the identification of the sculptor. The figure is cast in patinated metal (spelter/bronzed alloy), mounted on a natural stone base. The sculpture remains in quite good condition, with minor age-related signs, fully consistent with its period. A rare and collectible piece of early 20th-century French decorative sculpture. It will be carefully packed and shipped with insured and trackable postal service.
