Biography Kumazawa Taizen (1873-1968) Soto Zen monk of the Meiji and Showa periods. Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1873. The pseudonym is Sogaku.The name of the giver is Daiko Enshin Zenshi. He inherited the Dharma of Suwa Shuzen. Studied at the Soto Zen University Forest (now Komazawa University) and became a professor in 1908. In 1944, he became the head of Sojiji Temple. He later moved to Eiheiji Temple, where he served as head monk for 25 years. He passed away in 1968 at the age of 94.
