Rare authentic enamel sign for homes of decorated Soviet war veterans
This is an original Soviet enamel metal plaque used in the USSR in the late 1940s–1950s to mark the houses of disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War (World War II).
The sign reads: “Здесь проживает инвалид Великой Отечественной войны” — “Here lives a disabled veteran of the Great Patriotic War.”
Such plaques were official state-issued symbols of honor and gratitude. They were fixed to the facades of homes belonging to soldiers who returned wounded from the front, serving as visible recognition of their sacrifice and heroism.
Today, surviving examples are extremely rare, especially with the original enamel and red star design preserved.
