Wooden African elephant headdress mask of the Babanki, Cameroon.

The use of elephant masks (horizontally worn on the head, see photo) is considered a special privilege, because the elephant, just like the leopard, is a regal animal. These masks appear in festive ceremonies and are worn by the members of the elephant society who are closely involved with the king. This specimen is in a very good and virtually undamaged condition 

Dimensions:
48 cm x 43 cm x 15 cm and weighs approx. 700 grams.

An asset for any collector or as a decorative eye-catcher in any interior.

Carved from one piece of wood. The whole is beautifully finished. It is in a good condition and has a gorgeous wood-texture. 
The mask will be packaged with great care and shipped with track and trace.
