On offer is an old fine full sized master violin after Maggini, made and labeled: "Franz Jos. Sollner, Tachau 1884". Stamped FS to endpin. The instrument is ready to play with some old repaired cracks on top and sides, grafted scroll, bushed peg-holes, good ebony set up, master made bridge and Evah Pirazzi strings. The tone is powerful, deep, rich, clear as a bell and focused with many colors to work with. It is responsive and even in all ranges. The violin has two pieces back made from beautiful flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll; the table is likewise matching of high quality, straight high to medium grained spruce. The double purfling has been painstakingly inlaid front and back. Original golden brown varnish over lighter ground remains in good condition with some tears and wears. 

The whole length of the violin is 60 cm and the back 36,5 cm.
The width of the upper bouts: 17,1 cm; middle bouts: 11,9 cm; lower bouts: 20,5 cm.
