Glimmende Structuur van goudverf in het patroon van de jurk.

Ik maak graag portretten van jonge mannen en pubers omdat er in die levensfase iets bijzonders zichtbaar is: een kwetsbaarheid die nog niet door de wereld is verhard. Hun gezichten en lichamen dragen een onbepaaldheid in zich – ze zijn nog niet helemaal gevormd, maar vol belofte en mogelijkheden. Het gaat mij juist om dat tussenmoment: niet kind meer, nog geen man. In die overgang schuilt een schoonheid die ik wil vangen, de openheid van wat nog kan worden en het fragiele besef dat dit stadium maar kort duurt.

Ik werk uitsluitend met hoogwaardige materialen: professioneel geprepareerd linnen of gladde panelen, en olieverf van topkwaliteit, rijk aan pigment. Elk werk is met aandacht en toewijding gemaakt – bedoeld om lang mee te gaan, niet alleen qua materiaal, maar ook in betekenis.

Mijn werk is een ode aan wat langzaam verdwijnt: lichaam, stilte, aandacht.
