Cigarette box, rectangular and entirely made from blond figured walnut burl (loupe de noyer), originating from France, in the Art Deco style dating to 1930–1940, measuring 10 × 7 × 3 cm, in good used condition with minor aging.
Description from the seller
Superb rectangular cigarette box, entirely crafted from flamed blonde walnut burl with iridescent reflections of rare intensity. The selection of the burl is remarkable: tight grain, pearl knots, and an almost three-dimensional chatoyance effect, signature of the finest Parisian productions from the interwar period.
The lid, slightly domed, bears an elegant handwritten inscription 'Cigarettes'.
Solid brass hinges, entirely hand-peened with precious wood pins, a high-end cabinetry detail rarely preserved in such a beautiful condition.
The object still retains the characteristics of its original workshop.
Dimensions: 10 × 7 × 3 cm
Capacity: 20 cigarettes in flat format or 14 in standard format.
Condition is fairly good.
No crack, no restoration, no brass oxidation.
Provenance: Parisian private collection.
A display case, both understated and spectacular, that fully embodies the radical elegance and discreet luxury of the Roaring Twenties.
Perfectly ready to join a demanding collection or to sit proudly on the desk of a connoisseur of fine objects.
