Description from the seller

Bart de Graaf (1946) is a Dutch artist known for his free, expressive painting style. His work oscillates between abstraction and figuration, with color, rhythm, and spontaneous brushwork at its core. De Graaf often works intuitively, resulting in paintings that radiate strong emotional charge and dynamism. He explores themes such as human presence, movement, and the relationship between form and color. With his distinctive style, De Graaf has secured a recognizable place within contemporary Dutch painting.

This powerful, expressive painting depicts an abstract-figurative form reminiscent of a human body in motion. With thick, energetic brushstrokes and an intense color palette of red, green, blue, and earth tones, De Graaf creates an image that feels both solid and pulsating. The multiple layers and textures give the work an almost sculptural depth. Highlights and dark areas alternate, creating a play of tension and rhythm. The composition is dynamic and layered, entirely in line with De Graaf's intuitive approach and his ongoing quest for the essence of form and expression.

Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
