Description from the seller
Pilot Maki-e fountain pen, crafted from brass coated with urushi lacquer and decorated with maki-e.
The body decorated with a phoenix maki-e design is incredibly beautiful. The urushi lacquer that serves as the base for the maki-e has a deeper black than ordinary black resin, which accentuates the golden phoenix. In addition, the lacquered surface has a texture that feels as if it gently clings to the skin. It is a slim model, perfect for everyday use.
Maki-e is a traditional Japanese lacquer art technique in which patterns or images are painted with lacquer and decorated by sprinkling gold or silver powder onto the surface. Modern maki-e combines printing technology with traditional methods, achieving a precise and visually stunning finish.
