BIOGRAPHY: Gérard VIELLEVIE is a French painter born in La Queue Les Yvelines, near Paris, in 1939. He studied at the *École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs* in Paris. A student of the classics and a former pupil of the renowned Lycée National des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, he is inspired by post-impressionist art and creates sculptures and mosaics based on his inherent interest in this style. He began making bas-reliefs, sculptures, and frescoes for numerous schools and town halls in cities such as Paris, Cannes, Strasbourg, Lille, and Saint-Tropez, many of which now adorn the hotels in these cities. He was close to the painter Paul Aïzpiri.
True to the tradition of leading post-impressionist painters such as Van Gogh, Vieillevie's work consists of still lifes, lush gardens, and flora. His work has been exhibited in Paris, Tokyo, Osaka, and Seoul, and he received the Gold Medal from the International Lion's Club for painting (1974). He passed away in 1992. Posthumously, in 1993, a major exhibition dedicated to him was held at the Katia Granoff gallery.
