AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A section of softly colored stone print by Toorop.
Considering its age of over 100 years and in excellent condition.
The lithography itself measures 22 by 14.5.

Johannes Theodorus (Jan) Toorop, also: Jean Theodor Toorop, (Poerworedjo (Nederlands-Indië), December 20, 1858 – The Hague, March 3, 1928) was one of the most important Dutch visual artists from the period 1880-1910. Initially, he painted in an impressionist style, but through pointillism, he developed into a symbolist painter.

He was also active as a portrait artist and designed ceramics, advertising posters, and book covers. Dutch Art Nouveau is often associated with his work. In the last twenty years of his life, he was strongly inspired by Roman Catholicism.

He was the father of Charley Toorop, grandfather of the artist Edgar Fernhout and filmmaker John Fernhout, and great-grandfather of Rik Fernhout. It is in good condition and is framed in a modern frame that can be hung or displayed standing.
