Japanese hanging scroll on silk depicting a waterfall landscape, hand signed by Sekkei, an original Taisho–Showa period work, overall 192 cm × 54.5 cm (painting 127 cm × 35 cm), in good antique condition with age toning and minor stains/foxing, includes its original wooden storage box.
Description from the seller
This Japanese hanging scroll depicts a dramatic waterfall landscape, rendered in expressive ink brushwork with subtle color accents. The cascading water, rocky cliffs, and surrounding trees create a powerful yet tranquil composition, evoking the natural grandeur favored in early 20th-century Japanese landscape painting.
The work is signed Sekkei, an artist active during the Taisho to Showa period. The painting reflects a traditional literati-inspired approach, emphasizing atmosphere, movement, and harmony with nature rather than strict realism.
The scroll is executed on silk and is accompanied by its original wooden storage box, making it suitable for both collection and display.
