Maritime Object (8) - Hand-blown glass- Rare set with 2 cylinder

This exceptional lot consists of 8 authentic Japanese vintage glass fishing floats, representing a highly rare and well-balanced combination of shapes, colors, and original markings. The set includes spherical floats as well as cylindrical (rolling-pin type) floats. One of the cylindrical floats shows a natural distortion formed during the hand-blowing process. Such distortion is a hallmark of traditional hand-crafted glass and is not a flaw, but rather a distinctive feature that reflects the manufacturing techniques and working conditions of the period. These characteristics enhance the individuality of the piece and significantly increase its collector value and rarity. Several floats in this group bear original Japanese markings, including Kanji and Katakana characters, which are closely associated with traditional Japanese production and distribution systems. Today, it is extremely difficult to assemble a single set that combines multiple marked floats together with different forms, making this group particularly desirable. Size (Concise for Catawiki Input Fields) Spherical floats: diameter approx. 5.5–8 cm Cylindrical floats: length approx. 12.3 cm / 14.8 cm As these floats are hand-blown, slight variations in size and natural distortions are to be expected. Condition All items are vintage and show age-related wear, including surface scratches, minor abrasions, bubbles, and variations in thickness and shape. These features are consistent with long-term practical use and traditional production methods, and serve as clear indicators of authenticity. No modern reproductions are included. Historical Context Glass fishing floats were widely used in Japan from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century, prior to the adoption of plastic alternatives. Marked examples and floats with unusual forms, such as distorted cylindrical types, have become increasingly scarce and are highly sought after by collectors. This set offers an excellent opportunity to acquire a historically rich and visually diverse group of Japanese fishing floats, suitable for advanced collections, interior display, or maritime folk art appreciation. Additional Notes Sold strictly as a set of 8 Intended for decorative or collector use only Not suitable for functional fishing use Shipping Carefully packed for international delivery.
