Description from the seller
Lithography by Jiří Anderle (Pavlíkov, 14 September 1936).
Jiří Anderle is a Czech painter and graphic artist of partly assimilated German descent on his father's side.
In 1961 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied painting with Antonín Pelc and graphics with Vladimír Silovský. From 1969 to 1973 he worked as an assistant at the UIA with Zdeněk Sklenář and Jiří Trnka.
In a large part of his oeuvre, Anderle expresses human existential fear and a sense of timelessness. In more recent work, his visual language has further developed toward abstraction. Anderle has had nearly a hundred solo exhibitions worldwide. His work has been acquired by the collections of around forty museums and galleries, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
