Waterman Ideal 452 fountain pen from the United States, with a gold-plated body and cap, 135 mm long and 11.5 mm in diameter, dating to the first half of the 20th century, in good used condition with minor age-related marks, original Waterman clip aligned and functional lever-fill mechanism, and a solid 14k gold nib with a heart-shaped breather hole.
Description from the seller
The Waterman’s Ideal nº 452 fountain pen is presented in very good condition, especially noteworthy considering its age from the 1920s.
The body and cap with gold coating retain a warm, uniform shine, with the geometric diamond pattern engraving perfectly defined, deep, and legible across its entire surface. Slight surface marks and micro signs of use are visible, typical of an original vintage piece, only noticeable under close inspection, and they do not affect the aesthetic or structural integrity of the pen.
The original Waterman 'Ideal' clip is correctly aligned, firm, and free of deformations, maintaining both its functionality and aesthetic presence. The black ebonite finishes retain their original shape, with a natural patina appropriate to age, without cracks or breaks.
The lever loading system is original and operational, with the lever correctly integrated into the body, without any play or visible deformations. The internal mechanism responds appropriately, allowing ink loading in accordance with its original design.
The Waterman's Ideal nib made of solid 14-karat gold is in very good condition, with clear engravings and a well-defined heart-shaped breathing hole. It shows no cracks, repairs, or deformations. The tip exhibits uniform and moderate wear, consistent with careful use over time.
Overall, it is an authentic, well-preserved, and mechanically functional pen, fully consistent with its era, ideal for both discerning collectors and users who value usable historical pieces.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
