Mimmo Rotella, Omaggio a Marilyn, a limited edition serigraphy on cardboard in the Pop Art style, 100 × 70 cm, signed by hand with a dry stamp from Fondazione Rotella Nord Est Milano, numbered P.A, dating from 1990–2000, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Original work by Mimmo Rotella, undisputed master of décollage and a central figure in European art of the second half of the 20th century.
The works belong to the renowned cycle dedicated to cinema, in which Rotella reworks original cinematic posters through the technique of tearing and reassembling, transforming the popular image into a powerful contemporary visual language. The torn fragments, overlapped and reassembled, generate a dynamic tension between image and memory, between cultural icon and artistic gesture.
Homage to Marilyn belongs to the iconic cycle dedicated to the myth of cinema and mass culture, in which Rotella uses torn and reassembled original posters to transform the popular image into a powerful reflection on time, memory, and the consumption of the icon.
The face of Marilyn Monroe, a universal symbol of beauty and fragility, emerges and dissolves among tears, overlaps, and typographic fragments. The tear is not destruction but a creative act: the image is violated to be regenerated, charged with a new emotional and visual intensity.
The works are signed by hand and feature the dry stamp of the Mimmo Rotella Foundation, an element that guarantees their authenticity and enhances their collectible value.
Homage to Marilyn - Multiple decollage with poster tears applied on silkscreen support on cardboard.
