Description from the seller
Lela Pupillo, a native of Syracuse, born in 1942, whose legal studies are interwoven with a 360-degree passion for art that she develops by first deepening traditional techniques of oil and watercolor, then the study of portraiture and the nude, then the passion for fabrics, the diversification of techniques by exploring ceramics, repoussé up to figure-drawing courses, culminating in sculpture.
A career of exhibitions of hers that began in the mid-sixties and has continued uninterrupted to the present day, with solo shows spanning from her native Syracuse to Palermo, Rome, Florence, and Milan, and reaching the Italian Cultural Institutes in Paris and Stockholm. The one at Spazio Arte of Aurora Assicurazioni is her first appearance in Varese.
The graphic presented here was printed using the "digital.calcography" technique, first reproduced digitally and then with calcographic impressions. The graphic, produced in multiple layers with a relief technique on a zinc plate to achieve a tactile sensory quality, paired with the monochrome chromatic vision and all worked in the grayscale tonal range. The result is of great innovative value and pleasant to look at and to touch.
