Parra (Pieter Janssen, born 1976), Rockwell (by Parra), a 2009 silkscreen in a limited edition on cotton, in excellent condition, 55 × 45 cm, with a professionally framed black birchwood frame, produced in the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
Title: Rockwell by Parra
Artist: Pieter Janssen (1976), internationally known as Parra.
This work dates from 2009, a significant and formative phase in Parra's career, which coincided with his solo exhibition at the Kunsthal Rotterdam. In this period, his practice moved decisively between autonomous work and applied forms such as graphic design and fashion, a cross-pollination that would later become a defining component of his oeuvre.
Apart from his autonomous work, Parra is known for his influential graphic design practice and he played an important role in the early visual identity of Patta, one of Amsterdam's leading streetwear brands. His work has been shown internationally in museums and institutions, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Kunsthal Rotterdam and M HKA Antwerp, as well as institutions in the United Kingdom, the United States and Asia. Additionally, his work is distributed through high-quality international platforms such as the MoMA Design Store.
This work was originally screen-printed on a limited edition cotton T-shirt, released by Rockwell Clothing, Parra's own label. Such works from this period are increasingly seen as early, mature examples of his style, in which typography, color, and composition function both visually and conceptually.
The composition shows Parra’s recognizable visual language: sharp graphic contours, saturated color fields and playful yet powerful typography, executed in a bright palette of blue, off-white and red.
Professionally framed in a solid black birch frame by a professional picture framer. The work is sold including the frame.
Origin (Provenance):
Originating from a Dutch private collection and purchased at the time through Galerie Burijn, which provides a clear and reliable provenance.
Condition
In excellent condition, with no visible damage.
Dimensions
55 × 45 × 3 cm
Shipping
The work is carefully packaged, insured, and shipped from Amsterdam.
Pickup in Amsterdam is also possible.
