BIO:
One of the founders of Naples' Gruppo 58, with a neosurrealist and neodadaist orientation, has also contributed to the magazine Documento Sud.
His works from the period 1958-1960 proposed assemblages of various objects, including fragments of prints and popular images. In 1960 he moved to Paris, then to Milan, where several monographic exhibitions were dedicated to him (the first in 1974).
Since 1962, Del Pezzo has developed his own characteristic repertoire of “pictures” or “sculptures,” composed of monochrome geometric panels, into which shelves are inset or concavities are carved, supporting regular geometric objects (pins, wooden eggs, balls, mannequins, etc.), sometimes very colorful.
In her object paintings and in her assemblages, the playful aspect is always present. For the ironic tone and for the use of decontextualized everyday objects, such works recall Pop Art; but there is an evident recall of De Chirico, Carrà and Morandi (Motivo, 1967), and of the geometries of metaphysical painting.
