Anton Heyboer, Huizen, hand-signed etching from 1980–1990, in good condition, framed 43 x 60 cm, origin Netherlands, original edition, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Anton Heyboer's etchings are often simple and direct, with rough, sketchy lines and strong contrasts. He works quickly and intuitively, with the graphic quality of scratches and incisions remaining visible. As a result, his houses take on mainly an emotional, symbolic meaning rather than a realistic depiction.
Anton Heyboer (1924–2005)
Because of his unconventional lifestyle, Anton Heyboer belonged to the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent lifestyle manifested itself in five marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world,' referring to his prolific output. Heyboer was trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, albeit still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework on which his abstract artworks were based. Yet there are always figurative elements present in his paintings and etchings. Additionally, Heyboer clarified the themes of his work with texts, in which human relationships often play a role.
Dimensions of the artwork with frame: 43 x 60 cm
Dimensions of the work without a frame: 33 x 41 cm
Framed artwork.
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
