Sylvia Willink (1944), signed by hand, presents a screen print titled Kameel in het park van Versailles in a limited edition of 200 (55/200) from 1980–1990, framed and measuring 78 x 68 cm, in good condition, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
In this painting, Carel Willink places a camel in the stately gardens of Versailles. The juxtaposition of the exotic animal with the classical European surroundings creates a disorienting and almost dreamlike effect. Through his extremely precise and realistic painting style the scene appears credible, yet at the same time unrealistic. The work is a typical example of Willink's magical realism, in which reality and fantasy subtly come together.
After Willink's death his work was managed by his wife, Sylvia Willink-Quiël, under whose supervision official reprints and reproductions of this work have been issued. This exemplar is one of them and concerns number 55 from a limited edition of 200.

His work is known for the extremely precise painting technique and the mysterious, often disorienting atmosphere. Willink combined realistic architecture, landscapes and figures with unexpected or threatening elements, giving his paintings an almost dreamlike tension.
