Description from the seller

Paul Delvaux: Murmurs - Offset print - Belgium - 1980-1989

Lovely offset print of the world-famous work 'Murmures' by the Belgian surrealist painter Paul Delvaux. Signed on the plate (P. Delvaux Murmures 5-7-79), professionally framed in walnut wood and behind plexiglass.

Paul Delvaux (Antheit, 23 September 1897 – Veurne, 20 July 1994) was a Belgian painter. He was often grouped with Belgian Surrealism, but he did not accept this label. He found this interpretation of his work too narrow, too formalistic, and above all too superficial. He simply wanted to create a “poetic realism,” and in that, he achieved an unprecedented height and international fame. Female nudes with large dreamlike eyes, human skeletons, old-fashioned trains and wagons, stations, and buildings with a classical appearance are among the main elements of his visual language.
