Description from the seller
Kees Salentijn is pursuing his studies at the Rijksakademie for Visual Arts in Amsterdam, in the department of free painting. O.B. Kat is his principal mentor there. Salentijn studies paintings at the Prado in Madrid during his period of study, and he stays for several months with a Berber family in Morocco.
In the 1980s, Salentijn travels frequently to Spain. He feels connected during this period with artists from diverse movements, who more or less advocate spontaneous unconscious creation and do not primarily pursue aesthetic representation. He combines the cheerful Cobra visual language with the influences of Spanish culture.
