Senza titolo, a mixed media artwork, original edition, produced in 1990–2000 in Italy, in the folk art style, 10 × 15 cm, framed, 0.5 kg.
Description from the seller
Mario Schifano (Homs, 1934 - Rome, 1998).
Title: Untitled (Intervened photographic series / Retouched photograph).
Technique: Enamel and/or acrylic on photograph / photographic emulsion on canvas or paper (artist's technical characteristic).
Support: Intervened photograph on a dark base.
Conservation status: Good. Features marked textures in the white enamel application and fluidity in the dark strokes over the matte black background.
Description of the Work for the Catalog
Spanish:
Representative work of the visual searches and multimedia experiments that characterized Mario Schifano's late production, one of the leading figures of European Pop Art and of the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo group.
In the left section, a ghostly face or silhouette stands out, resolved with dense brushstrokes in bright white that contrast with a halo or aura of liquid yellow and ochre tones. The gaze of the figure is suggested with minimalist and intuitive grafismo.
Toward the center of the composition, a series of dynamic strokes in Prussian blue or jet black connect the figure with the chromatic void on the right side, an absolute black plane that heightens the nocturnal, intimate, and almost televisual or cinematic atmosphere of the image.
