Description from the seller
Willy Geiger (1878–1971)
Lithograph – 1902 – Expressive skeletal figure with the harp
Lithograph depicting an expressive skeletal figure playing the harp, in a composition with a strong symbolic and expressionist character.
The work is signed at the bottom left “Willy Geiger 02,” suggesting a dating of 1902.
The subject, at once dramatic and macabre, fits fully within the German aesthetic of the early 20th century.
The quality of the line, the deep blacks, and the slightly nuanced background indicate a lithographic process.
A small suspended figure appears in the lower part of the composition, reinforcing the narrative tension and the visual intensity of the whole.
