Corneille, Scene Chauphere, a framed 1998 silkscreen in a limited edition of 41/200, Cobra style, hand-signed, in good condition, produced in the Netherlands and sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
In Corneille's work, birds frequently appear as powerful symbols of freedom, movement and imagination. A crow plays a special role: because of its dark color and clean lines, it often stands for mystery, strength or the unknown. Corneille combines the crow with his characteristic bright colors and simplified shapes, making the animal at once looming and poetic. This fits with his CoBrA background, in which spontaneous expression and intuitive visual language are central.
Corneille (1922–2010) was the co-founder of the CoBrA movement and an important innovator within postwar art. His work evolved from abstract to figurative, with recurring themes such as birds, women and flowers. This colorful silkscreen is a nice example of his later style.
Framed work.
Viewings available. We have our own framing atelier (85-year anniversary) and work together with recognized restorers (Restauratoren Nederland). Please feel free to contact us via our website.
