Corneille, Nu dans un miroir, a signed lithograph from 1987 in a limited edition (EA) of Cobra style, 58 × 44 cm, Nederland origin, in good condition.
Description from the seller
In Corneille's work, birds frequently appear as powerful symbols of freedom, movement and imagination. A crow has a special role: because of its dark color and sleek form, it often stands for mystery, power or the unknown. Corneille combines the crow with his characteristic bright colors and simplified shapes, making the creature simultaneously threatening and poetic. This fits his CoBrA background, in which spontaneous expression and intuitive visual language are central.
Corneille (1922–2010) was a co-founder of the CoBrA movement and an important innovator in postwar art. His work evolved from abstract to figurative, with recurring themes such as birds, women and flowers. This colorful screen print is a fine example of his later style.
Viewing possible. We have our own framing workshop (celebrating an 85-year anniversary) and work together with recognized restorers (Restauratoren Nederland). Please feel free to contact us via our website.
