Description from the seller
Louis Nagelkerke (Eindhoven, February 3, 1949) has been working as a professional artist since 1980. Louis is a versatile artist and never without inspiration or new ideas. Movement, beauty and mysticism are characteristic of his artworks. He is especially inspired by life in the Indonesian archipelago and is fascinated by the mystery of its inhabitants, both humans and animals. His inspiration often relates to the Eastern person. Musicians, dancers and female dancers, particularly the people of the beautiful island of Bali. People from the theater are also often his models. The subjects for his work are as varied and rich as life itself. But always recurring is his love for the Eastern culture and religion, music and dance. Louis Nagelkerke is especially known for his highly realistic portrayals of people, “bringing out the beauty in people and animals.” That is the credo of the artist who wants to make the world more beautiful with his paintings. He is able to accurately paint the essence of the image in posture and mood.
This work presents a moving portrait of two young children, where the older girl carries the younger child on her back. Their close bond is beautifully conveyed in their poses: the girl carries her brother or sister with natural strength and responsibility, while the younger child clings to her with curiosity and a bit of shyness.
Dimensions of the work with frame: 78 x 56 cm
Dimensions of the work without frame: 63 x 41 cm
