Description from the seller
Anton Martineau – Tango
In Tango, Anton Martineau captures the movement and passion of the dance. His work is characterized by expressive lines and vivid colors, making the rhythm and emotion of the tango tangible. Martineau blends figuration with a loose, almost painterly approach, placing the dynamic interplay between the dancers at the center.
Anton Martineau (1926–2017) was a Dutch painter, draftsman, graphic artist, and sculptor. His work is marked by an expressive, figurative style in which emotion and human experience are central.
Martineau depicted themes such as love, death, relationships, and existential tension in powerful, sometimes raw compositions with direct imagery. In addition to being a visual artist, he was also a poet, which is evident in the symbolic and narrative charge of his work.
