Description from the seller
Very few athletes are as famous and acclaimed as the three-time world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, whose extraordinary athletic feats and his activism in favor of civil rights made him one of the most influential athletes and humanitarian activists of the 20th century. As an athlete, Ali astonished the world with his strength, skill, and personality, proclaiming himself world heavyweight champion at just 22. However, his greatest triumph came from his humanitarian efforts. Crafted in precious black resin, the cap reminds of a boxing bag, while the reservoir resembles the bandages that pugilists use to wrap their hands. The cap features several design elements, such as one of Ali’s famous maxims and a butterfly in homage to his fighting style: Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. The finial continues this concept and bears four engraved lines representing the ropes of a boxing ring. The inscriptions at the tip of the pen refer to Ali’s victory at the Rome 1960 Olympics and to his first world heavyweight title, which he won in Miami in 1964. The details of his victory, sealing it in the seventh round by technical KO, are present in the cap ring. To celebrate his first title, the Montblanc emblem in white resin is adorned with a 1. As a sign of his success, the clip features the shape of a boxing champion’s belt with his name.
