Description from the seller
Anton Heyboer's Can-Can-danseressen are usually made with chalk or pastel on paper. He worked quickly and intuitively, with rough lines and strong colors, making movement and energy more important than detail. The technique fits the subject: freedom, rhythm, and physicality.
Anton Heyboer (1924-2005)
Because of his unconventional lifestyle, Anton Heyboer ranked among the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent life was expressed in five marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world,' referring to his high output of art. Heyboer was trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, albeit still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework, on which his abstract artworks were based. Yet there are always figurative elements present in his paintings and etchings. Heyboer also clarified the themes of his work with texts, in which human relationships often play a role.
Framed dimensions: 31 x 22 cm
Dimensions of the work without frame: 29 x 20 cm
Framed work.
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framery, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
