Jacques Doucet was born on April 9, 1924 in Boulogne-Billancourt. He was active as a painter. During the war Doucet was interned as a political prisoner, an experience that would have an impact on his work as a painter. At the end of World War II he studied at the academy in Montparnasse. In 1947 he met Corneille (1922-2010) who involved him with the Nederlandse Experimentele Groep in Holland (1948). He designed the cover for the second issue of Reflex.
In 1948 he joined with Jean-Michel Atlan (1913-1960) Cobra, within which he would be active in maintaining contacts. His work was present at both the Amsterdam exhibition in 1949 and the Liège exhibition in 1951. Doucet worked with all kinds of materials. After his contacts with Cobra he began to paint more and more abstractly. His work has regularly been seen at exhibitions in France, Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands.
