Peter Fetthauer (*14 February 1944 in Wilhelmshaven) is a Hamburg-based artist who works as painter, draftsman, graphic artist and sculptor and often appears under the signature name “PEFE.” He became particularly known for woodcuts and wood sculptures, in which he engages intensively with figuration.
Fetthauer studied 1963–1967 at the Werkkunstschule Hamburg (today Department Design) Freie Grafik (including among others Gisela Bührmann). In addition to his own artistic work, his craft in print graphics is noteworthy: He worked as printer for Horst Janssen, Paul Wunderlich, Marino Marini and Rolf Nesch; for Paul Wunderlich he printed exclusively etchings (Kaltnadelradierungen).
Peter Fetthauer lives and works in Hamburg and is a member of the woodcutters association XYLON. His oeuvre includes paintings, drawings, print graphics (including etchings/lithographs) as well as sculptures (wood, stone, steel).
