Description from the seller
LONDRES is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this work, the city appears represented in a nocturnal and vibrant atmosphere, where architecture and urban life merge in an intense play of lights and reflections. The scene is organized in perspective toward the background, guiding the viewer's gaze along a wet street that leads directly to the silhouette of a clock tower, evoking the urban landscape of London.
People move under umbrellas, walking along the street illuminated by street lamps and lit windows. Their dark silhouettes contrast with the intense colors of the pavement, where the reflections of the rain transform the surface into a composition of luminous green, blue, orange, and yellow bands.
The architecture appears simplified through solid forms and expressive outlines. The buildings, bathed in warm artificial lighting, create a contrast with the cool tones of the sky and the deep shadows of the city. This chromatic combination reinforces the sense of a night alive, humid, and dynamic. The loose, gestural brushwork adds movement to the scene, especially in the reflections on the ground and in the urban lights that seem to vibrate over the surface of the painting.
Londres captures the everyday rhythm of a large city under the rain: an anonymous and collective moment where people, lights, and architecture become part of the same urban choreography.
