Description from the seller
Large work by Salentijn, beautifully framed and in good condition. Image format: 40 x 31 cm
Kees Salentijn pursued his studies at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, in the department of free painting. O.B. Kat is there his main mentor. Salentijn studied paintings at the Prado in Madrid during his studies, and he stayed for several months with a Berber family in Morocco.
In the eighties, Salentijn traveled a lot to Spain. He felt connected during this period with artists from various movements who, to varying degrees, advocate spontaneous unconscious creation and do not primarily pursue aesthetic representation.
He combines the cheerful Cobra imagery with the influences of Spanish culture.
