Belgian Cobra artist Pierre Alechinsky presents the lithograph and colour etching Central Park IV (1976), edition 34/100, signed by hand, measuring 65 × 49.2 cm, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Superb color lithograph and aquatint on vellum paper from 1976, signed in pencil at the center-right and numbered #34/100 copies
Edited by Yves Rivière
Dimensions: Large format - 65 X 49.2 cm
A splendid work, offering a very high-quality graphic rendering, extremely decorative and hand-signed by the master of the CoBrA movement
Note: plate from the series "Central Park" created after the artist's famous painting which depicts Central Park as a monster devouring everyone who enters its domain. It is the first work the artist painted in this way: a colorful image in the center and small images all around.
Pierre Alechinsky recalls that he created it while observing the paths, the rocks and the lawns of Central Park from the top of his New York studio on the 35th floor. Viewed from above, he thought the park looked like a monster's mouth. He then decided to add drawings all around to tell of the unsettling things that happen at night around this park. The artist thus inaugurated the painting "à remarques marginales".
Careful packaging and international shipping with tracking number and insurance.
