About the artist:
Yamila Velázquez (Las Tunas, Cuba, 1993) is a contemporary artist who uses digital intelligence tools; she currently lives and works in Alicante, Spain. Owner and partner of a company dedicated to the sale, representation and development of artists and artworks, Velázquez combines her business vision with a deep artistic sensibility.
This young Cuban talent has established herself in the field of digital art, using contemporary media to explore themes related to nature, landscape and the intimate relationship between woman and her environment. Her works gently and powerfully address topics such as beauty, love, sensuality and feminine delicacy, always framed in enveloping, romantic and refined atmospheres.
With a vibrant and expressive aesthetic, Yamila Velázquez manages to fuse classic influences with a modern language, resulting in versatile, fresh and deeply evocative works. The pictorial texture of her images, the masterful use of color and the emotionally balanced composition position her work as a contemporary artistic proposal of high aesthetic value.
Shipping and presentation:
The work will be carefully packed by a professional and sent in a rigid cardboard tube, internally protected with bubble wrap to ensure its integrity during transport. Shipments are made through reliable courier companies such as UPS, FedEx or Correos España, depending on the destination and the most convenient option in each case.
Estimated delivery time is 7 to 10 days, though it may vary depending on the destination country.
This work is presented as a diptych, juxtaposing two of the fastest and most recognizable icons of Japanese pop culture: Pikachu and Sonic The Hedgehog. Both are depicted in the blue-and-white porcelain china aesthetic, creating an exquisite tension between cultural traditions. The simulated, crackled, delicate material contrasts with the dynamic and energetic nature of the characters.
The artist applies Kintsugi in an integral way: the cracks that traverse the porcelain are sealed and highlighted with liquid gold, creating a vein-like pattern that gives the figures a shared story of reconstruction. Pikachu, in a more contained pose, is adorned with the golden lightning bolt that symbolises his power. Sonic, more upright, features golden details that emphasize his Super Sonic nature. The piece is a sophisticated commentary on cultural memory that remains intact — and even becomes more beautiful — in spite of the pressures of time or perceived fragility.
