Description from the seller
Rein Dool is a Dutch artist, born in 1933 in Leiden, known for his versatile body of work including paintings, drawings, graphics, ceramics and sculpture. His career began in the 1950s and continues to this day, producing both figurative and abstract works with a refined and expressive style. Dool’s work often focuses on human figures and portraits, but he also experiments with different techniques and media. In addition to his artistic practice, he taught at the Royal Academy for Art and Design in ’s-Hertogenbosch. His work is included in major collections, such as the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and the Dordrechts Museum, and he has received recognition with prizes such as the Jeanne Oosting Prize. With a long and active career, Rein Dool is regarded as an influential figure in the Dutch art world.
Rein Dool is especially known for his graphic prints and drawings, in which he combines abstract forms and figurative elements. His work stands out for strong line work, subtle use of light and shadow, and the experimental application of printmaking techniques such as etching and woodcut. Dool's prints often have a contemplative atmosphere, with small details that invite a closer look at the work.
