Description from the seller

“The Berry Picker”

The painting is grounded in the relationship between the human figure and the vegetal mass that surrounds her. The woman, shown with her back to us while picking berries, becomes the visual center of the scene. The light body emerges clearly from the darker, more motion-filled background, creating an immediate contrast that draws the eye.

The composition is simple yet balanced: the verticality of the figure provides stability to the image, while the arm reaching toward the shrub introduces a diagonal line that suggests movement and directs attention to the act of gathering.

From a painterly point of view, there is a perceived distinction between the two main elements: the figure is modeled with softer transitions, while the vegetation is built with freer, more fragmented brushstrokes, conveying the sense of a living and dynamic environment.

Light plays an important role because it illuminates the back and shoulders of the figure, isolating her from the natural context. This helps create an intimate and silent atmosphere, where the simple gesture of gathering berries takes on almost contemplative value: the figure seems immersed in nature yet at the same time set apart from it.

Suitable for modern spaces as well as traditional classic settings

Artist statement:

«My painting arises from the desire to give shape to what moves behind the portrayed image. I believe art is also a bridge between the memory of tradition and the needs of the present: for this reason I strive to paint with dialoguing references, questioning the present.»
