Half-hull wooden model boat in a glass-front vitrine, dating from 1980–1990, made of wood, in good condition with minor signs of age and spots, originating from the Netherlands; dimensions 70 cm x 35 cm x 10 cm.
Description from the seller
A particularly decorative and nautical collectible: a half wooden model boat of a classic Riva-style speedboat, elegantly presented in a luxurious glazed display cabinet. This type of wall model was traditionally used in shipyards, nautical clubs and maritime interiors to showcase the elegant lines of a boat design. By displaying only one side of the hull, the boat’s profile is optimally highlighted.
The model is inspired by the iconic Italian Riva speedboats, which since the 1950s have been world-famous as the pinnacle of luxury and elegance on the water. The famous Riva Aquarama and other models were built with beautifully lacquered mahogany, refined chrome details and powerful engines. These boats quickly became symbols of style and exclusivity, loved by celebrities and the jet set on the Italian Riviera.
This model clearly reflects that classic Riva aesthetic. The hull features an elegant white and dark blue finish with a sleek line, while the deck is finished in warm wood with fine detailing that imitates the characteristic teak deck of luxury speedboats. Details such as the helm position, the small windscreen, fittings and the red stern flag reinforce the nautical character.
The boat is mounted in a stylish display cabinet with a glass front and a decorative wooden frame with brass corner brackets. This creates a presentation reminiscent of nautical clubs, yacht clubs or classic ship interiors. The set forms a striking wall piece that exudes both maritime charm and vintage design.
Such half hulls are often used as architectural ship models or decorative nautical objects. They reveal the lines of the vessel without occupying the space of a full model and are thus particularly suitable as wall decorations.
An elegant and characterful piece that fits perfectly in a nautical interior, an office, a restaurant or a collection of maritime objects.
